Even if I Knew the Lyrics

While I was folding laundry tonight, Cory and I watched part of that NBC show The Singing Bee. I had never seen it before, but I had read somewhere that there were two similar shows coming out at about the same time - this one and the Fox show Don't Forget the Lyrics. That one we've watched a couple of times, and I have decided that I like the Wayne Brady show on Fox better. Why exactly? I'm not sure. Maybe it's because I like Wayne Brady better. Cory called him "the white man's black man," and I'm sure that's not politically correct. I'd never heard that before.

Whichever one of these shows I watch, and I know I will end up watching at least part of them from time to time, I know I could never do what these people do. For one, I can't sing, and for two, I don't know the lyrics. It's amazing how they can take a song you think you know - until the words stop and you have to come up with the next line. It's hard!

I did know the words to Eye of the Tiger, tonight. Repeat after me: "The last known survivor stalks his prey in the night, and he's watching us all with the, eye - of the tiger." The girl was doing well until she got to that part. I really like Survivor. This is not my favorite song by them, but it seems to be the most known one.

I'm thinking maybe we should send Beth to be on one of these shows. She likes all kinds of music and sings along to all the songs. She knows the lyrics, or at least thinks she does.
