Prevention and Treatment of Acne

With two teenagers in the house, acne is always a threat. Isn't it? It just seems to be a right of passage for teenagers. Luckily, my two haven't had to seriously battle acne. Cory gets a zit or two once in a while, but we haven't really looked into any serious acne treatment like Proactiv® Solution. I found an article recently in the paper that said teenage boys who cut out sugar, and some other things I can't remember, out of their diet for 30 days had a significant decrease in breakouts. I showed Cory the article, and he said he was going to try it, but I don't think he really took it seriously. Now I'm reading on acne.com that foods commonly believed to cause acne really don't, so maybe it wouldn't have mattered anyway. I don't think it would have hurt him any to cut out the soda anyway.

There is a lot more information on this site about acne - from causes to treatments to myths, and more - that can really be handy for anyone with teenagers, or even those of us who should have outgrown zits ages ago. There's even a page that lists 5 Steps to Safer Shaving that tells how to avoid those shaving bumps. Since Cory just started shaving, I'll have to be sure he reads that page as well as the one about the foods.
