Learn About Sudden Cardiac Arrest

St. Jude Medical has put together a very informative site full of information about Sudden Cardiac Arrest called Inside Cardiac Arrest. The goal is to acquaint people with the risk factors for SCA and help them know what questions to ask their doctors. The site has two videos in which a real doctor explains SCA and the anatomy of the human heart in an easy to understand way.

I didn't realize until I visited the site that heart attack and Sudden Cardiac Arrest are not the same thing. Symptoms of SCA and the symptoms of a heart attack are not the same. Almost 900 people a day experience SCA. It usually occurs with no warning and can be fatal if not treated within 4 to 6 minutes. Learning the risk factors for SCA and what you can do about it could save a life - yours or the life of someone you love.
