Weird Phones

Beth is always supposed to call when she leaves work at night. It's nice to know when she's headed this way. Last night we hadn't heard from her, so her dad called to ask what was going on. She was on her way home. She tried to call 3 times and couldn't get through.

So we tried calling our home phone with our cell phones. Nope, we couldn't get through either. We kept getting this message telling us we had to dial a 1 or a 0 and the area code, which we shouldn't have to do. So, we tried with the 1 and the area code and still the same message. We could call each other's cell phones. We could call the cell phones with the house phone, but we could not call the house phone with the cell phones.

It was still doing that this morning. Jeffrey called from work. That worked, but then when he tested the cell phone, he got that same message. He borrowed other people's cell phones and called. They worked. He even borrowed a couple cell phones from our same provider, and they worked. He called our provider, US Cellular, and they tried to tell him it was a problem with our home phone. Yeah, right. He called back after more testing with other phones, and they started doing some testing to see what the problem might be. I don't know what they did, but I just tried calling the home phone with my cell phone, and it works - like it's supposed to, like it has always worked before last night.

So, really, Beth has no excuse for not calling to tell me she is going to be late and why.

  1. That is really weird! I'm glad they got it worked out though... your kids need to be able to call home!
