For years, I kept track of our finances with Quicken. Somehow last year I got far, far behind. I kept thinking I'd get caught up, but the receipts and bills kept piling up - and I just never got them entered into Quicken. Oh, the bills got paid, and I kept an eye on all the accounts to be sure there were no unexplained charges or unusual activity. I just never actually sat down and got everything entered. I kept thinking I'd get to it, but I didn't.
And now, I'm finally admitting defeat. I will never get caught up.
It's January. Time to file away all the stuff that never got entered and start fresh. I'm giving up on Quicken and just keeping track of everything with Mint and Google Docs spreadsheets. And yeah, I'm already 25 days behind, but that doesn't sound so bad right now.
