What we never did was put a filter on the water line to the ice maker. It seems like it would make sense to add something like this electrolux refrigerator filter to make sure the ice cubes are as good as the filtered drinking water, but we just never did it.
Something like a PureAdvantage water and air filtration system would have been nice. The one I found is designed to fit the Electrolux brand refrigerators, but I bet there's something like this for mine, too. If it was as easy as visiting a web page, like this one for Electrolux appliance accessories, and ordering the right filter for my refrigerator, then I really don't know why we never got around to it. I'm sure it would have been much more important if we had one of those fancy refrigerators with the ice and water in the door, and I was getting my drinking water from the fridge instead of from the kitchen sink. And if I ate ice cubes as much as I used to. I used to crunch ice cubes all the time.
The air filter part of this system helps reduce refrigerator odors. Not that I really notice a lot of odors in my fridge, but now I'm wondering if there's an air filter that I should have added. Or changed somewhere along the line. Maybe I needed to get a refrigerator that came with water and air filters?
Oh well. If you've got an Electrolux refrigerator, there are definitely some filters and accessories you can easily order online. I'm going to have to do a bit more research to see what's available for my fridge and decide what the best option is.
Do you have a water filter on your refrigerator and ice maker? How important have you found it?
