Sax Quartet

Besides performing his vocal solo at this past weekend's State Solo & Ensemble, Cory also performed with the Sax Quartet.  I think they did well, and we were all proud of them.  Here's video of the performance.  Too bad that music stand is blocking Cory, and you can't really understand what he says in the beginning, but...

They scored a 2 - not as well as they might have liked, but nothing to sneeze at, right? Besides, understanding how the judges think is about as easy as figuring out what pronexin is - at least to me.  Just qualifying for State is an achievement in itself, and they all did their best.

Update:  Cory just told me that they found out today that they were 1 point away from getting a 1, so they're not too upset about that.  It was close.

In Home Music Lessons

Cory is the musical one in the family. He takes band in school. He enjoys playing his saxophone, though I think he should practice more. Yes, Cory, I know you're reading this, and I think you should practice more.

I never really thought about having him take private lessons to supplement what he learns in school, and he never mentioned it. Some of his other band friends take private lessons, though, and I'm sure it makes a difference. The question is, with a busy schedule full of school activities, library activities, and homework, how does anyone fit in time for music lessons?

Amadeus Home Music School can help, because they schedule music lessons in your home, at your convenience. That definitely saves some time because you don't have to drive to the lesson and back again. Amadeus offers lessons for not only the saxophone, but other instruments, singing lessons, and music for children with special needs. You can call their toll free number or fill out the web form to get more information.

I'll have to ask Cory if it's something he would be interested in.

Forgotten

Cory forgot his saxophone. He ran off and left it in his band locker at school. He's missing a week of school for the Feast. Jeffrey and I drove over here today, and the kids came after school. They just got here, and Cory announced that he forgot his saxophone. He's supposed to practice while he's gone. He's not worried about that. He just hates that he can't play a song for Kait.

There's a football game Friday night when we get home. I told him he better bring that saxophone home and practice, practice, practice over the weekend before he has to go back to school. He can play the song for Kait at the Barn Party.
