Baby on the Move!

We had an exciting weekend.  A very special young man came to visit while his parents went off to have some fun with their friends.  Jason stayed with us from Saturday afternoon when his parents left until Sunday evening when they returned - so he even got to spend the night.

Things have changed a bit since the last time he spent the night.  He's no longer a little baby who stays put wherever you place him.  No, now he's crawling all over the place, pulling himself up to things, and getting into everything.  Cords and wires are especially enticing, and he pretends not to hear us when we tell him 'No' those aren't for him - or he turns around and smiles his best smile, just knowing we'll change our minds.  He's wrong about that, but he sure is cute while he's trying!

We made some basic changes while he was here - putting up the baby gate at the top of the stairs so he didn't go tumbling down chasing after the cat, and removing all the Table top displays, I mean clutter, from the coffee table.  If Jason is going to spend any more time here, I am going to have to do some serious baby-proofing around here - either that or spend all of my time on the floor playing with him.  Yep, I know - it's a tough job, but somebody's gotta do it!

Five Generations

We went to visit family this weekend.  Jeffrey's mom lives in Arizona, so we don't get to see her very often.  She, along with her husband Fred, was in Illinois visiting her mom - so we drove down to see them all, and so they could meet Jason.

While we had everybody together, we definitely had to get the 5 generation picture!

Guess Who Came to Visit

Jason! Our precious darling grandson. Well, actually, his parents came over to do laundry, but Jason came along for the ride.  So it's his first official visit to his grandparents' house.

It was nice having him here this afternoon.  I got to sit and hold him, and everything else got to wait - no cooking, no cleaning, no looking up oxyelite pro reviews, just sitting and holding a little baby boy.  I think I could get used to it!  There's nothing that really needs done, right?

This picture is actually from yesterday, when I went over to visit them - so I got to hold him two days in a row!  Isn't he precious?

Jeffrey didn't get to see him yesterday, so when he heard they were coming over to do laundry, he said they should wait until later, so he could see the little guy.  Well, they didn't get here until sometime this afternoon, and they had two weeks' worth of laundry, so they're still here, and his Papa got plenty of time to sit and hold him and enjoy him.

Who Are We?

Or, more to the point, who will we be - to our new grandson?  What should he call us?  We've never been grandparents, but now we're going to need grandparent names.

My grandparents were Grandma & Grandpa and Mammaw & Pappaw.  Jeffrey had a Granny and a Grandma he called Goomer (I think) and a Papa Joe.  My parents became Mammaw and Pappaw when Beth was little, and Jeffrey's mom became Granny.  We started out calling all of them Grandma Connie and Grandpa Garry and so on, but when Beth started dropping the Grandma and just calling my mom by her first name, we decided it was time to choose something else.  The other grandparents are still Grandma or Grandpa, with their name attached.

Since I've got a Mammaw and Beth has a Mammaw, Beth thinks that I should be Mammaw.  And I guess Pappaw just automatically goes with Mammaw, so Jeffrey would have to be Pappaw.  We're not so sure about that, though.  Maybe we should have different grandparent names?

I'm thinking maybe Nana, because it rhymes with Anna, which is kind of cool.  Though maybe that would be confusing to the little one?  And we're telling Beth that he's going to call Jeffrey 'Sir' - she doesn't like that at all!  What he's really thinking is Papa or Papa Jeff, like his Papa Joe.

What do you think?  Nana and Papa?  Something else?  (NOT Granny, but thanks anyway, Peggy)  What did you call your grandparents?  Did you even know there were so many grandparent names?  (If nothing else, you have to check out this list.  It's good for a chuckle or two)  I'm not looking for a rv insurance quote, just a little help figuring out who I'm going to be, to the little guy, at least.  Thanks!

I Should've Thought of This Before

The other day I realized that I could sign the grandparents up to receive updates from this blog via email. I don't know why it never occurred to me. I've been receiving my own blog updates for quite some time. Yes, I know, it sounds kind of weird to get a feed of my own blog, but I originally set it up in my email client (Thunderbird) with an RSS subscription, just to see how it worked. Then I really didn't think about it any more, though I should stop subscribing to my own blog and subscribe to some other people's blogs.

I forgot that FeedBurner offers the ability for people to subscribe to a feed via email, just by entering an email address. For people who spend most of their time on the computer playing Spider Solitaire, that is ideal! There's nothing complicated about it. So, yesterday I activated the email subscriptions option, added the form to my sidebar, and, to make things even easier, I went ahead and entered the grandparents' email and subscribed them. They don't have to do anything but sit back and read the email as it comes in!

The reason I decided to do this is that, these particular grandparents live far, far away, and they don't get to see their grandkids very often. Now, as a good daughter, I should be sending email and keeping them updated on what their grandkids are doing and how things are going here. But, I don't. What I actually do is post to this blog - so, if they start getting email every day when I post, it's just like I sat down and wrote them an email. At least, that's what I'm going to believe.

Now, should I sign the other grandparents up?
