It's Friday

Notice anything missing? Yeah, I haven't posted a Sky Watch Friday photo in a couple weeks. I'm still takings photos of the sky, because I just can't help myself, but I had some computer problems. Then, when I got those fixed, my computer wouldn't read the SD cards from my camera. Panic! If I can't get the pictures off those cards, they're gone. Forever. Luckily, Cory's computer could read them, and he put them all on the hard drive downstairs. Now I can get to my sky pictures - and all the other ones too.

Still, I think I'm going to turn in my Sky Watch Friday membership card. Before you get too worried that you'll never see another sky picture from me - you were worried, right? - let me reassure you that I'll still be posting them. I just decided to join a different meme, one I found out about on Misty's blogs, My Dogs Keep Me Sane and Misty's Words. No one ever complained, and I honestly didn't pay attention, after all, I've been posting Sky Watch Fridays for months, but apparently SWF has rules. They don't want blogs with paid posts or links to participate. I fail to understand how it matters - unless we're putting those paid links in the Sky Watch posts, but I guess it does. So, I'm quitting before someone yells at me. Luckily there's a new meme for those of us who are addicted to taking sky photos and still want to make some money with our blogs.

Sky Watch Friday (#50)

It's (almost) Friday again, and that means
Sky Watch Friday!

Jeffrey and I walked a little later than normal on Tuesday. Because of Beth's surgery, he wasn’t leaving for work as usual. So, instead of walking in the dark like we normally do this time of year, we got to enjoy the sunrise and had some light to enjoy our surroundings.

I walked out the door to see this sunrise, turned back around and grabbed my camera.

Then, since I already had the camera, I took it along. Jeffrey does not wait for me when I stop to take a picture:

There he is up ahead of me, so I have to run to catch up. He says he’s walking for exercise, not to take pictures. Does he even know what he’s missing? Look at that sky!

Sky Watch Friday (#49)

It's (almost) Friday again, and that means
Sky Watch Friday!

I took these from my back door Wednesday morning. The sky was just a solid gray, with lots and lots of snow coming out of it.

Sky Watch Friday (#48)

It's Friday again, and that means
Sky Watch Friday!

I took these from my back door Wednesday evening.

There was just that little touch of color - gray clouds above and white snow below.

Sky Watch Friday (#47)

It's (almost) Friday again, and that means
Sky Watch Friday!

I missed last week's Sky Watch because we were in Kentucky visiting family for Thanksgiving.  I took these pictures on the drive down, while stuck in Chicago traffic.

I'm pretty sure I was wishing I could fly right over that traffic and into the sky about then.  No such luck.  We just had to sit there, inching slowly along, wondering if we'd ever get where we wanted to go.

Sky Watch Friday (#46)

It's (almost) Friday again, and that means
Sky Watch Friday!

I took these out my back door. I love the crisp blue sky and white clouds behind the bare tree.

Sky Watch Friday (#45)

It's (almost) Friday again, and that means
Sky Watch Friday!

I took these pictures of the moon a month ago, but I haven't shared them until now.  I really like the clouds and the moon together, the blue and the white.  These pictures were taken looking the opposite direction from the sunset and clouds I posted a couple weeks ago.

Sky Watch Friday (#44)

It's (almost) Friday again, and that means
Sky Watch Friday!

Here are a couple pictures from today's sunrise.  I was out taking pictures when I should have been making sure Cory was out of bed.  He has Jazz Band on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and that means he has to be ready to leave the house at about 6:45am.  On other days he can wait to get out of bed until Jeffrey and I get back from our walk, but on Jazz Band days, he needs to get up right away.  Today, he didn't.

But I got these sunrise pics - and Cory did get ready and out of the house on time.  He was just a little rushed.

Sky Watch Friday (#43)

It's (almost) Friday again, and that means
Sky Watch Friday!

Yes, I know I missed a couple weeks.  I'm sure there were Fridays in there somewhere...  and skies, too.  I did take some pictures, just didn't get them off the camera or posted.

Until now:

There was just something about these clouds...

Sky Watch Friday (#42)

It's (almost) Friday again, and that means
Sky Watch Friday!

To get a picture of tonight's sunset, I had to walk out my front door and across the street.   I just couldn't see it from my house because of the trees and houses in the way.  A couple weeks ago, I could see the sunset from my front yard, but not tonight.  The sun may set in the West, but it seems that West moves, doesn't it?  Even without the help of New York movers.

So, my feet got a little cold - it was worth it.

I saw these clouds and jet trail out my back door Wednesday evening, right about sunset.

Sky Watch Friday (#40)

It's (almost) Friday again, and that means
Sky Watch Friday!

Sunset Wednesday evening:

The sun gradually rather quickly dropped behind the trees.

Until it was just a ball of fire in the trees.

and then, it was gone, rushing to provide a beautiful sunrise on the other side of the horizon.

Sky Watch Friday!

I caught the moon the other morning (Tuesday 9/16/08), right before it went down behind the tree.

The next morning (Wednesday, 9/17/08), the sky was quite a bit lighter before the moon again went behind the tree.

Sky Watch Friday (#38)

It's Friday again, and that means
Sky Watch Friday!

The sky was really pretty this morning (Thursday) while Jeffrey and I were on our walk.  Of course I didn't have my camera with me.  Why not?  That's a good question, for which I do not have a good answer.  I should at least start carrying my cell phone, if I don't want to carry the 'big' camera.  After we got back, I kept glancing out the kitchen window, and did manage to go out and catch the sun starting to come up.

Then a little later, I glanced out and liked the way the sky looked, so I ran out again.

Sky Watch Friday #37

It's (almost)Friday again, and that means
Sky Watch Friday!

Cory and I were headed to the library Tuesday, in between rain showers.  I was waiting for him to grab whatever it was that he forgot and had to run back inside for when I looked up and saw a rainbow.  I was thinking I needed to run back inside and grab my camera when I realized I had my phone with me, so I tried getting a shot with the phone.

OK, not great, but you can see the rainbow, right?  In the other direction, the sun was spilling through the clouds:

I love when the rays show up like that.  And then Cory was ready to go to the library.  We had books to return, books to pick up, and people to talk to.  Cory also shot some video for his Tuesday video on YouTube - I should really link you up, shouldn't I?  Oh, and that's what he ran back into the house for - camera batteries.

Anyway, after we finished at the library and went out to the parking lot - another rainbow, or at least part of a rainbow.  See it?

Sky Watch Friday (#36)

It's Friday again, and that means
Sky Watch Friday!

Driving back from Palmyra (Jeffrey was driving) the other day I really liked the way these clouds looked. The lower ones looked so solid against the higher ones. They look like you should be able to just reach up and touch them, don't they?

Just a little to my right, the edge of those higher clouds and some blue sky.
