I Was Never a Girly Girl

I was never much of a girly girl.  I never liked dolls or tea parties or dressing up in fancy frilly dresses. I would always rather climb trees and play with Lego with my brothers. Or read.  Books were always better than dolls any day.

I didn't know what to do with my little girl.  She wasn't so much into fancy frilly dresses like these sugar pageant dresses - did they even have dresses like this and beauty pageants for little girls back then?  She did love her dolls, though and liked to cuddle them and dress them.  She was just always more girly than I was growing up.  I'm not sure I even knew what to do with her.

Now she's got a goofy little boy - no frilly dresses for him!  He's cutest in jeans and shirts.  What is it about a little person in jeans that is beyond adorable?  Yeah, even the little girls.  If and when Beth decides to have another kid, I know she'd like a little girl - a little girly girl she can dress up in those fancy dresses, play tea party and baby dolls with.  I keep telling her boys are easier, but maybe that's just my experience.  Come to think of it, maybe a little girl is just what she deserves!

They do say that it's more fun shopping for little girls than for little boys, because of all the cute frilly stuff.  I just never cared about shopping either.  See - not a girly girl.
