I cleaned our bathrooms this week. Way back when the kids were little, I had a schedule for cleaning my house, and I did the bathrooms every week. Thursdays, to be exact! Nowadays I get to them when I get to them. I haven't figured out what the difference is. It should be easier without two little kids running around, shouldn't it?The thing that seems to take so long is scrubbing the tubs. Between the soap scum and the hard-water stains, I scrub them until my arm is sore - and still I feel like I'm wasting my time. I use Comet, and I've tried both Lime-Away and CLR, but nothing really seems to help. Sometimes the home-made cleaner I make works really well, and sometimes it doesn't.
I just clicked the Related Article (apartmenttherapy.com) and found a couple things in the comments that I am going to have to try:
- dipping paper towels into white vinegar and sticking them to the shower walls
- 1/4 cup baking soda - 1tablespoon of detergent - and mix in just enough white vinegar to create a thick paste.
I keep a spray bottle of white vinegar in my shower and spray down the walls a couple times a week after i shower. Since i use vinegar to keep an alergy rash under control, the vinegar does double duty!
