Flat Ted?

When my kids were in elementary school, they read a book about Flat Stanley, and then they were supposed to send their own Flat Stanley to friends and family. Those friends were supposed to have an adventure or do something with Flat Stanley, write about it, take pictures, etc., and send him back. Then the class could track all the places Flat Stanley had visited. If you've had kids in elementary school, perhaps you're familiar with Flat Stanley, too.

Why am I thinking about this now? I just heard about Ted Murphy's latest endeavor (project? stunt? cool idea?) called Where in the World is Ted Murphy? Now, if you search for "Ted Murphy" on Flickr, you'll find all kinds of photos of Ted Murphy* with people he meets at events all over the country. We can't all attend these events and get our picture taken with Ted in real life, but never fear - the magic of the Internet is here. Now anyone can get his picture taken with Ted! Simply download Ted's face from his blog, cut it out and take a picture. I would have done it, but my printer needs ink right now - so here are a couple examples from Flickr:

I don't know if being put in the cat's bed was exactly what Ted had in mind, but you never know what you're gonna get if you put your face out on the Internet and give people free license to use it.

Oh, if you take your own picture(s) be sure to post them and let Ted know so he can track all the places he's been (like Flat Stanley, see?) and include your picture in his photo gallery. I really need to get some ink for my printer so I can play...

*For those of you wondering Who in the World is Ted Murphy? Ted is the creative superfreak Founder/CEO of IZEA.

  1. How ironic that you posted this!!! My BFF's daughter sent me her 'Flat' a few months ago! I just sent Flat Jillian back to Ohio, and she just shared with her class the photos (you know there were lots hehe) and stories yesterday!
