Who's Jeffrey?

Come back, Hootin' Anni, this one's for you!

You guessed right. That guy I met when I was 12 years old, and he was 16, is indeed the guy I ended up marrying. It seems like most people can remember meeting their spouse. For us, it wasn't at all memorable. The only reason we know we met then is that we went to the same church, and that's the summer his family moved into the area. It would be interesting to look back and remember thinking he was cute, or something. But I don't. And, since he was 16, and I was only 12, he probably didn't even notice me at all!

Skip forward a few years, and we became really good friends. It seemed like we'd always known each other. When I was 16, he told me I was too young for him. I supposed he must have been right, since he would've been 20 then. It does make a difference when you're that age. A few years later, though, and it didn't matter so much. We got married when he was 25, and I was 21 - almost 9 years after we met. Now we've been married 21 years, so I've been married to him for over half my life, but I've known him a lot longer than that.

Oh, and I do think he's cute!

  1. Cool! Altho this time I had to click on the 'labels' "Jeffrey" to find the comments. rofl

Anyway, I'm really, REALLY glad that you thought to share the story. I love it. I do have to laugh at the part that he thought you were too young. My hubby and I are 10 years apart in age, and we've been married nearly 40 years. Of course you didn't ask that...I got carried away with gab like I always do. Thanks again for adding the special item for me to read. I really appreciated it.

  2. how cool is it to look back and remember when it was just starting... I remember walking into a room and seeing mine sitting in a chair talking on the CB radio, His hair was so long and in his face I could only see one eye,,, That was all I needed. 31 years later married 29. WOW how time flys.

  3. What a fabulous story!

My husband is 12 years older than me! So, your 4 years seems minimal ;-)
