We Got Cory a New Bible

A while back I clicked an ad on Facebook. It was for a teen Bible called the LIVE Teen Bible, and it looked very interesting. Here's a description from the publisher:
Most youth Bibles are just teen versions of adult Bibles. Live takes an all-new, teen-centered approach. It includes a wealth of experiences and activities that help teens discover surprising things about God, see God involved in their lives, and express their faith creatively--both in the pages of the Bible and on the tie-in Web site. This is the only youth Bible with content created by teenagers. Art, photos, and other creative forms of self-expression from youth are packed into this Bible as a launching point to drive teens into God's Word. Teens will see how God works in the lives of other teens and be encouraged to express their faith, too.

C. S. Lewis said, "We can nowhere evade the presence of God. The world is crowded with Him. He walks everywhere incognito." This Bible will show teens this truth.

Features include NLT text, two-color interior (orange/black), student art, student poems, interactive tie-in Web site, sidebars that spark teen creativity, Try This feature that encourages teens to live out their faith, quotes and profiles of famous people of faith.

Since the Bible hadn't been released yet (it was released June 2008) they had a sample available for download, the book of John. So I downloaded it, took a look and decided it would be a great Bible for Cory. I can't find the sample anymore, but if you'd like to take a look, I uploaded the pdf here. (ETA: Here's the original page I found, with information and the sample download - Thank you, Robert!)

Not too long ago, Cory and Jeffrey were out shopping, found the Bible and looked at it, and Cory really liked it. So, this past weekend when we were out, we stopped in a Christian book store, found it for 20% off, and went ahead and bought him one. Jeffrey got himself a new NLT Bible, too. We love that translation.

Then today when I started looking for the LIVE Teen Bible online so I could tell you about it, I found an even better deal. We paid $35.99 plus tax, and I could get it for $29.56 here. So, I ordered it, and we're going to take the other one back. Yes, the word of God is priceless, but that doesn't mean we have to spend more money than is necessary on it.
