Grocery Shopping Today

I wasn't around much today because I decided it was about time to go grocery shopping. I hadn't been since the week before Thanksgiving. Thankfully, my wonderful husband is willing to stop and pick up a few things when I need him to - like milk and bread - so I don't have to run out for the little things. When I go, I put together a huge list, collect my coupons, and make my trip worth my while. What that means, though, is that it ends up taking me all day - by the time I make it out of the house in the morning, do all the shopping, and get home and get everything put away. Yeah, I'm tired by the time I finish all of that.

Today I bought chicken and hamburger that needed packaged and put into the freezer when I got home. It probably could have waited until tomorrow, but I figured I might as well get it done. The chicken leg quarters and the ground chuck were marked down because they were really close to the code date and had to be sold. That's OK with me, because it means I got a good deal, and I won't need to buy hamburger for ages since I bought 10 lbs. I had to pay a little more than I like to for the chicken breasts, because somebody in this house thinks he needs breast and isn't happy with leg quarters, but at least I found them. I was beginning to wonder if I could still buy chicken breast that aren't boneless. For some reason, I've had a hard time finding them recently.

The most important thing, of course, is that we now have some Ramen noodles in the house. Cory just might survive!

  2. Jaye - I do get the bags of boneless, skinless chicken breasts. What I've been having trouble finding are the chicken breasts with the skin and the bone. Or, when I found them, they'd cost more than I wanted to pay. I used to get them on sale for 99¢/lb. - but I haven't seen that in a long time. We finally used the last package I had in the freezer, and I decided to get some even though they weren't on sale. My shopping plan usually is to buy enough when things are on sale that I don't ever have to buy things at regular price. But that didn't work this time...
