Well, That Was Fun

Beth did make it home last night, through the freezing rain and on the slick roads. She's a good driver. She drives on a lot of roads I would rather avoid.

When we got up this morning, it hadn't really started snowing, but I guess the freezing rain had continued, and the snow did start by 7am or so. School was canceled, so the kids got to sleep in. And it snowed, and snowed. About 12:30 I went out and started shoveling. It had pretty much stopped snowing by then, and Beth had to be at work by 2:30 so the driveway needed cleaned off so she could get out. Cory was eating lunch (the *gasp* last package of Ramen noodles) so I told him to come out once he'd finished eating.

There was a lot of snow, and it was heavy and wet. Plus there was a layer of iciness underneath - so it was a lot of fun to shovel. Read that as very hard to shovel. We managed to get most of the driveway cleared off before Beth had to leave. She left a little earlier than usual to give herself plenty of time. As she was leaving, I had to make her stop so I could brush the snow off her headlights. Never mind that she was supposed to clean off her own car - she did not do it. She brushed the windows off enough that she could see, but that was it.

Cory and I finished up with the driveway and got back in the house around 2pm. It had started snowing again while we were working, so we went out around 5pm and cleaned it off again, since Jeffrey would be home soon. Luckily it wasn't nearly as bad as the first time. That might've killed me.

  2. Wow. Snow is pretty, but I'm happy I've never had to shovel it! Now I feel guilty for complaining about how cold it is here (in the 60's) :( I know it may sound odd, but it makes me kind of jealous of you. Maybe some day I'll live in a place and get to experience all 4 seasons...
