Heads or Tails - Scary, Spooky Fun

One of my favorite authors is Stephen King. I have a whole collection of his books. I haven't read all of his books, but I've read quite a few. In fact, I'm thinking that I should make a point of reading one real soon.

What I like about Stephen King is that he can take something that could never actually happen, and make it seem so real and so probable that you start thinking that it actually could happen. The stories that seem to scare other people, don't scare me so much - like Pet Sematary, for instance. Once I was reading that while Jeffrey was gone overnight on business. He mentioned it to someone, and they couldn't believe I was home alone at night reading that, and I wasn't all freaked out. I guess this same person had read the book and found it really, really scary. But take The Long Walk, now that really scared me. I think because it really could happen, and Stephen King made it feel like it was happening - to people I actually knew. I could not put that book down until I finished it, and, even after I finished it, I had dreams about it. Now, that's what I call scary.

  1. I went through a Stephen King thing when I was younger and read a bunch of his books. I haven't read any in years though - too scary for me! :)

I'm doing the Heads or Tails for the first time ever. Come over and join me in my Halloween tail if you have some time.

  4. I enjoy a good Stephen King yarn, too, although I had to stop reading one of his books, Dreamcatcher, when someone sat on a toilet and got grabbed by an alien lurking within. Have a great week!

  5. I tried to read a couple of my mom's Stephen King books when I was around 18. I didn't get too far. I also tried to read Silence of the Lambs and didn't get through half of it - I'm such a chicken! Have a Happy Halloween!

  9. Hi Anna. I'm back on-line. I had some problems with my Internet connection for several days and it feels good to be back.

I love Stephen King too. I've read a lot of his books and he is great in captivating his readers and making the imagination work over time.
