Why I'm So Far Behind in Quicken

I had plans for today. I was going to get downstairs, get my rebates all finished, and catch my Quicken file up. Somehow, some way the paid bills and receipts just keep piling up, and I haven't gotten them all entered the way I'm supposed to. Unfortunately there always seems to be real life stuff - like shoveling the driveway, cleaning the house, fixing dinner, or ironing shirts, that gets in the way of finally sitting down and taking care of that.

I probably should have put Quicken on my laptop. Then I could have kept everything up to date from my normal spot on the couch. Instead I decided to put it on the basement computer, because the filing cabinet is down there, and I thought it would be best to enter a bill and then file it right away. What happens is I just don't go down there, because I feel so cut off from the rest of the house. It's not even like we have some nice leather office chairs down there, just the one fake leather one. Sitting at the desk is just so uncomfortable, especially when I'm used to sitting on my nice comfy couch. And it's cold in the basement.

I have officially just put off going down there long enough that I need to go out and shovel the driveway again, unless I can make the teenagers do it. Actually, I think I'll have Beth come help me. It's fun to work together - even if she doesn't know it.

  1. This may sound like a really stupid question, but what is Quicken?

  2. Oops, I should explain myself better. It's just that I've been using Quicken for so long I thought everyone knew about it. It's software for managing and tracking your finances. You can put all your accounts in one place, download transactions, etc. I just like to keep track of all that stuff. It just has a habit of getting away from me.

I first started using it because we got it free when we bought TurboTax to file our taxes.
