How to Fasten a D-Ring Belt

We went shopping Sunday because we needed some things from Sam's, and because Jeffrey had a coupon to save 15% off at Kohl's. At Kohl's Cory found some pants he liked, and they came with a belt like this:
Cory mentioned that he had another pair of pants with a belt just like it, but he never wears the belt, because he doesn't know how to fasten it. He had tried pulling it through the rings and tucking it into a belt loop, but it just didn't stay. So I explained - you put the end of the belt through both rings and then bring it back through one of them. He still didn't get it, so I had to demonstrate. Through both rings, back through the top one:

"Oh!" he said. "Now I can wear my belt."

Silly kid. Why didn't he just ask in the first place?

  1. LOL - sorry, just came through to your blog while I was actually googling HOW TO FASTEN A CHILDS D-RING belt, I'm a mother of two (4 and 6mths) and I hadn't a clue how to do it, I thought I was doing it wrong as its not the tightest hold on the pants! So your son isn't the only one who couldn't figure it out LOL (and I'm 28!)

  2. Haha! I did the same thing! Couldn't be sure I was doing it right, so I googled "How to fasten a belt". Yours was the only result that didn't mention seat belts, and what a help it was! Now my pants are safely secure. :) Thanks.

  3. I just have to say that I have a master's degree and my husband has a four year degree as well. However, after not wearing his new belt for a couple weeks, we both had to google "how to fasten a belt" as well. Thanks so much!

  7. I actually figured this out in a few minutes while playing around with one at Target the other day. I never saw these kind of belts before and I was trying to figure it out because I liked the color. It just looked weird fastened that way and someone gave me a funny look so I thought I was doing it wrong.... maybe they were just laughing at the fact that I had the belt around my stomach while trying to figure it out and not where the belt would normally be worn.... hahaha but thanks! I'm glad to know I was doing it right :)

  11. *sigh* how depressing that i had to look this up, i tried all sorts of combinations. the reality is that's it's quite simple once you know how to fasten it. at least i'm not alone. Thank you for the info.

  12. My friends dad teaches biology at Harvard, and as part of the dress code they have to tuck their shirts in, so when he came back home i was still at my friends house and i saw how he had fastened his D-ring belt. I thought it was right until I read this post! So apparently even Havard professors' can't get things right sometimes. :)
